I hate New York weather. Its cold the whole year except for July and August. Im thinking about moving to Florida. I cant imaging why anyone would want to live in New York. As soon as I start school in spetember I feel chills and think winter is back. The summer is short.

yes more than other cities.the reason this is because the buildings are close together and they hold temperatures. it acts like a freezer because warmer air cant get to the locked in air spaces. so yes it is colder longer

Good grief. I have spent a lot of time in New York and I remember when I first went there I remember how hot it was even through the end of September. It did not begin to cool down much until sometime into October. I can't imagine how you can think New York City is freezing cold all the time. It's so warm in New York there is almost never any snow. All the concrete and asphalt absorbs heat like crazy and sometimes it is so hot you leave footprints in the pavement. If this is freezing cold I'd like to know what hot is.

To top it off, the subways (the stations at least) are usually sweltering.

Sounds like your just a warm weather type. Its the most lovely weather here right now, im sitting in front of my open window under my blankie, its crisp, clear, i can feel beginings in the air. Reminds me of the excitment of teh first day of school when i was little.Last night i had some wine outside at a cafe and my daughther feel asleep, a lady i didnt know ran up her house to offer me a blanket for her.
Why would anyone want to live in Ny? for days like these.

It's only "freezing cold" when the temperature is below 32 F.

So, to answer, it sometimes is and sometimes isn't freezing cold.

However, if you think its cold there, try moving to Michigan or Minnesota.
