If the nostalgia dragster was pushed to it's maximum potential, it would be harder to drive than the modern car. The technology has come a long way since the seventies so the modern cars are much more stable. However vintage race cars are usually not pushed to the max whereas modern cars are driven on the bleeding edge. Winning is definitely not the only thing in nostalgia racing, and backing off just a little can keep an engine in the game a lot longer.
