There was this guy at the gym, in his early 50s. (I'm legal, so don't worry). I swear he was flirting w/ me, but then I noticed he had a gold earring in his left ear. Is this a gay signal or something (or is that passe?) I don't mean to offend, but I need to know 'cause I see him every other day! thanks.

I doubt a gold earing in his left eye means he is gay, but I bet it means he cant see out of that eye anymore.

SO PASSE!
SO 1980'S!

Oh, and it's the RIGHT ear that meant they were gay. Not the left.

But, because this guy is in his 50's, he might actually be hitting on you, though. Who knows.
If he didn't come right out and ask you out, I really wouldn't worry much about it. Just ignore it.

I think the only "signaling" thing that is still in use today is the bandanna in the pocket, and that's usually only in bars. Rarely done at the gym unless the gym is in a particularly "gay" neighborhood.

I have ear rings in both ears, does that mean I am bi sexual ? Its just an aesthetic thing nowadays, I don't think it hints one way or the other. There used to be talk of the same for eyebrow piercings, left brow was OK, but right brow meant you were gay. Its just the old way of thinking. It was just another way for people to poke fun at someones differences. Human beings are such a cruel species.

No, its not a sign. The ear-ring thing was a total hype and totally incorrect, as was the ring on the little finger and the hancerchief in the back pocket. The only thing that may mark a man as gay is his wardrobe........ but then if you've gotten that far you'll already know.

They do actually say an earring in the RIGHT ear is a sign that they're gay, but in the LEFT ear it doesn't mean anything.

Never meant anything, ear rings started off (this round) with the left or right, but many didn't know which...still don't . If he cruises you, why in the world would you think he was gay....this makes no sense! I swear, the world gets dumber every day.

In the years past, one "ear" or the other might have had some significance as to someones sexual preference, these days though, not so much.

I am in High School. When a person has a ring in their right ear, they are made fun of for being gay. So, I believe, it is the right ear you are gay.
