A close friend of mine is becoming a priest in approximately a month, and I wanted to get him a silver ring engraved with the words "Senor Fa Di Me Uno Strumento Della Tu Pace". However, many of the engraving places i've found can't do that many characters on the inside. I found a different ring of his, and I believe he's about size 11 or so. Because he's becoming a priest, he doesn't want anything gaudy, just a totally plain, silver ring. Prefferably rounded edges...

Find a wide ring and get it sized to fit his finger. Having a ring sized after the engraving is done may mess up the words. Then talk to the jewelers about laser engravings. With laser engraving, they can wrap 2, 3 or sometimes 4 lines around the inside band for up to 200+ characters. If your local jewelers can't do it, then ask if they have somebody that they can send it to. If not, then look on line.

If that doesn't appeal to you for whatever reason, then think about another way to give him personalized jewelry, like a Cross or Crucifix pendant, Rosary Beads, Miraculous Medal pendant, or a pendant of a specific saint. Stick with the simple silver you had planned on, it's a great idea, much better than anything with gemstones.

Try a shorter phrase or word. How about just 'Amen'?
Maybe try a bigger ring, which he can hang as a pendant on a chain.
