Iron Maiden is by far the better band...at any stage of their career. Metallica is good, mind you, but the Maiden's musical abilities and songwriting talents (mostly of Steve Harris of course) are a cut above most other bands.

If you're comparing Metallica's older stuff with Iron Maiden, then Metallica definitely. But if you mean Metallica's later stuff, then Iron Maiden is better.
