Ok I'm gonna give you a crach course and then I have to take a shower.

You need acting lessons at the very least. Move to a town that has performing arts. It doesn't have to be LA becuase LA is very hard to start out. I was one of the top actors/models out of Austin, TX and I made a living.
Get head shots
Get an agent.
Audition for everything including voice over work.
become SAG or Equity eligible and then move to LA or NY.

Don't go to people who ask for money unless you're taking acting lessons from a legit teacher or you're getting you head shots done. Don't listen to people who promise you fame. Stay away from them!

It's hard. It's competitive. I don't do it for money any more unless I'm asked. I still act for fun. Everyone asks why I didn't do Playboy or move to LA. You have to be willing to practicaly sell you soul. Are you ready?

I would suggest you go to acting school, or you could major in theatre in some college somewhere, you can't rely on the people in your town to tell you are good, most of the time, they are just being nice and I believe a teacher would shape you up for the real world, (kinda harsh), and then if the teacher likes you but says you need some work, stay at the school and get a degree. Then go to LA or NYC. try googling an acting scool or agencies

Have you thought about getting an agent? They find you jobs, movies and TV shows film all over the place.
You could also answer one of those classified ad's for becoming an movie extra. They can set you up on a website that list every acting job and you can post you resume on there. Good Luck!

Well you might consider moving.

Talent searches and auditions usually take place in heavy duty metropolitan areas, though you might send tapes, head shots, etc, to agents in the business, elsewhere.

No real offense, but it's a hard row to Hoe,,,even for the best of the best, and rarely happens overnight, or without struggle, sometimes poverty, energy beyond anyones belief, dedication, and perseverance.

you can go on google an dtype in acting agencies. if you are serious about it pick a place an dcall. you will need a headshot, resume and maybe some dry reading skills. I live in NY and have access to everything but since you are pretty far away do that. go to google type in acting agencies or acting agencies in (your city or town) and go from there. break a leg.

Are you ready to MOVE to L.A.?

A friend of mine moved to New York City. There are million actors there. After several years, she realized that she was not going to get a BREAK in New York, so she moved to L.A. She got a call-back on her first audition. She got a part in the TV show Switched. She's lovin' L.A.
