That is terrible. The poor dog got taken from a familiar area, shoved in an increasingly smaller cage, and was chained so it couldn't even move to be comfortable. I don't even think the astronauts like their food in jelly form, say nothing of a dog. Just because it was a stray doesn't mean it didn't belong to someone before it was put on the murder-mission. Scientific advancement doesn't justify cruelty. Many medical and scientific advancements came as a result from holocaust victims.....does that mean the holocaust was justified? No!!!

I am so sad about what they did to laika, it was so cruel to strap her in like that where she couldn't move. She must've been terrified and died a terrible death. i am really upset at how people treat animals which were given to us by God to accompany us on this planet.
Not only that, they sent up more monkeys and dogs afterwards and alot of them died too!
How cruel mankind is.
