Babyoil would not work long term. It would work for a short period of time but the friction and dust would eventually make it thick and ineffective. A real lubricant would last much longer. Ie. WD40 or grease.

This is why you've never heard anyone recommend baby oil (or even cooking oil) to lubricate things. As you can see with cooking oil in kitchens, the dried up oil becomes quite thick and could worsen the situation long term.

It can lubricate the metal but not for a long period. Actually the lubricant is the central part between two metal parts/joints, which possess the metal to rub each other. If the lubricant is thick, it produces a thin layer between two metal parts and if it doesn’t, the metal parts would rub each other and wear out in a very short time. Okay
