First and foremost, I'm not tooting my own horn, but I would like to tell you I am a dermatologist and have been for several years. There are however several reasons you may continue to have oily skin even though you routinely wash it. Let me list some of those right now.
1. You may just have naturally oily skin, if this does not result in hectic breakouts involving blemishes or rosacea (A chronic dermatitis of the face, especially of the nose and cheeks, characterized by a red or rosy coloration, caused by dilation of capillaries, and the appearance of acnelike pimples. Also called acne rosacea.), then I recommend a simple witch hazel face wash every morning after waking and before bed. Witch hazel is a very gentle herbal ceanser that can be found in the same aisle as epson salts at your local grocer that promotes oil balance in skin.
On the other hand if you do expierence breakouts from the excessive oil I recommend a spot treatment that contains salisylic acid, a popular treatment is availabe from Aveeno. You can locate this at your local grocer as well, in the aisle with other facial cleansers and lotions. Do not, I repeat DO NOT use a liquid makeup to try and hide these imperfections, you will find you'll be fighting a constantly worsening battle, the infection will grow deeper and turn the regular pimples or blemishes to cyst like abrassions that may scar lifelong. I suggest usuing an oil free powder make-up as light as possible over affected areas. This will help dull shine and redness. Almay makes some very lovely products just for this reason. Never wear your make up to sleep or longer then needed.
2. It may be due to a million agents that you use everyday that dry your skin, i.e., lotions with alcohol, cleansers with benzoyl peroxide, liquid makeup, dry environment, hairspray, etc. The list goes on and on, but locating the troublesome factor can reverse the entire process.
3. Age, if you are in your teens, I am very sorry to report, there is no quick fix besides riding it out. Chances are it's not nearly as noticable to others as it is to you, everyone goes through it. And although I know that doesn't help, I can suggest you go to a dermatologist and ask about the new oral susations for preventing skin prone to oily behavior, they have made some breakthroughs in the last few years.
4. Don't ever listen to anyone who says chocolate or greasy foods give you acne, however if you touch greasy foods and touch your face with your hands before you wash them it can cause bacteria to stick to that particular area and infect the epidermis (most outer layer of skin) and later the dermis (deeper layer of skin in which acne blemishes are formed). On the upper hand, drinking plenty of water can keep the skin less oily and less prone to infection,... by naturally filtering out toxins through the urine.
Okay, theres a pretty decent list for you,... although there are other causes, most would relate to other medical problems you would have already noted. I hope you the best, and I hope this answer is informational enough for you, if you have any more questions, simply email them to me.
Thanx

Be careful not to overcleanse, as this will make you produce more oil. Use a cleanser with a wash rag (gently) in circular motion to help remove dead skin and build up.
***Those of us with oily skin will not get wrinkles as soon as those with normal and dry skin, so there is a benefit to it!!
****Contrary to what you might think, you do want to moisturize. Because if you don't your face will overproduce its own moisture (in the form of oil). Try an oil free moisturizer. Also, stick with the same brand, whichever one it is that you try, for your cleanser and moisturizer. They are meant to work together. When you use different brands, you have chemical warfare on your face, more problems.
****For girls....try using cosmetics that have oil absorbers in them, as well as an oil matiifier or oil control lotion. Sometimes, no matter what, you may still have to blot throughout the day.
****Always blot before putting on more powder, or you are creating mud.

Possibilities:
- overwashing
- using the wrong product for your skin type
- naturally super oily skin
- under use or misuse of makeup
Things to try:
- consult a dermatologist
- try a different system for cleaning your face (Clinique 3 Step and Proactive are good for super oily skin)
- blotting papers to use througout the day to skim oil off (overwashing makes the skin think it is too dry and causes the oil glands to produce even more oil)
- use makeup specifically designed for oily skin (Neutrogena, Almay, Bare Minerals, Clinique all have lines for oily skin)
- use loose powder to set all your makeup (one more layer of shine absorber)
- if you don't wear makeup, you should consider at least wearing pressed powder and loose powder as a means to stop the shine

You may be overwashing it and stripping it of oils, which causes your face to produce more oils and makes it shiny. Try gently washing your face.
I also have very oily skin but I find that if I put oil-free concealor over my t-zone, it helps to reduce shine.

hormones, genetics, etc. The amount of oil your skin produces varies for a lot of reasons. Just don't over wash your face. It will dry out and cause more problems.

WASHING actually makes it oilier...
The skin notices a lack of oil and secretes more!! Stop washing and washing.. wash just enough to keep it clean and don't strip the oil!

You have more oil glands than others, like me. You just have more oil in your skin than others. I have fought this all my life. Dry it up with cleansers, just not too much. Use the Clean and Clear oil blotter papers. They work great and dont mess up your makeup. They suck up the oil.
