How old does a fetus have to be in order to hear the heartbeat with a good old fassioned stethoscope? I am 15 weeks and just wondering if any one could tell me.

Pretty far. I think I was about 24 weeks when I could hear it. But I had one of those heart beat monitors from Toys R Us . i don't know if it was more powerful than a regular stethoscope of not.

24 to 25 weeks, earlier if you are pretty thin. Don't buy those heartbeat monitors though, waste of money. Stethoscope works fine.

It isn't easy to hear with a stethoscope anyway because you have gas and other bodily functions going on at the same time.

I'm pretty sure at around 6 -7 months or so. I am 21 weeks and I tried but still couldn't hear anything.

you can hear the babies heartbeat at 12 weeks . i'm thinking using a old when it'll pick up but your result will be a really dim sound.

You can't ,with a regular stethoscope !

Well I was told that it would be 21 weeks, but I still can't hear my baby's. ( I am almost 22 weeks) Probably the 6th month.

I don't think it can be heard with a regular scope
