Logic to a series of crime.

Do you know what demographics are?

Basiclaly you have 500 crimes x number of cimes happen in y place in z timeframe.

This could lead to "geussing" how many criminals there are and in what areas they have operational access to.

Combined with other access this can gain info on the means and who may be likely to be doing it by excluding those who are known to not be doing it.

I.E. when do people work where do they work when did these crimes occur are they similiar , what tools etc.. are needed where are these tools available etc.. etc..

you must remember though random and organized crime may appear as two different things AND crimes can be hoaxed or framed.

However for instance many paper stands and mail boxes are being knocked over in the city in a specific area ongoing.. meaning that someone or some people are convicted of repeating the behavior, so, if you put some mailboxes or paper stands under 24 hour surveilance then you can perhaps "witness" a crime you could not if you don't utilize the empirical trends.

You can also utilize crime trends.. to determine cultural activities or "education centers" that may be "creating criminal minds" so too you can continue to trace crimes, even to those that may have common knowledge to conduct a crime, thus bringing greater cause for increased monitoring or other wise .. .such as gang affiliations, friends, family etc.. that may show reasons for the behavior to have occured, and potential behind the scenes criminal activity. thus a series or repeating crimes may be "heat" or being "loud"

that is you tag the whole group not just yourself.

Crime patterns are things that stand out or are noticed to be very similar or the same in multiple crimes. Things such as; the way a person was killed/ the way a fire was started/ the sex of the vic./ what was used as the getaway....
