If you have not been eating more...or differently, it's probably just "water weight" from fluid retention. It will go away when your body gets used to the pills. Unfortunately, all forms of ingested, injected, or implanted birth control, have some adjustment times in the beginning where your body will react to the addition of these hormones into your system. If it turns out you don't end up meshing with this particular pill, it can always be changed to another type, dosage...or even another method of birth control all together. Don't worry, the weight is not permanent.

Yes, the usage of birth control pills
will cause you to gain weight. When
you gave in and began taking the pill,
you lost the benefits of all that exercise
you were getting by running away from
sexual encounters. Your stress level
was greatly reduced, and now you are
comfortable just sitting around all the time.
That is why the calories are piling up on
your body. Time to get busy and burn
some of them off. You must work up a
good sweat, and hold on to that sweating
activity for at least 30 minutes each day.
Then slowly cool down. Do not just suddenly
cease strenuous activity.

People react differently to them. By taking them, your adding new hormones/chemicals to your body, which makes your body react. Some people lose weight, some gain weight, sometimes your boobs will change in size. Everyone can react differently, putting on a little weight is normal, and after your body makes the adjustment and finds a new state of normality, you'll probably be able to control your weight and take the excess off easily enough. If it's something you're really concerned with, talk to your doctor.

Birht pills can have following serious side effects:

2) Hemnagimas of liver which at times could be dangerous
3) Increased incidence of certain types of cancers e.g. Breast and Uterus.
4) Weight gian due to water retention
5) Hypertension due to hormone effects and sodium retention
Althought these things do not happen in every or most women but there is defineitly higher incidence and cause realtionship.

I don't think it could be the pills if you have only been taking them for 2 weeks. Sometimes it is caused by a greater fluid intake. It is also a good idea to try different birth control pills to get one to suit you. See a doctor for advice.

yup. When I started taking them years ago, I gaind like 20 pounds in the first 6 weeks. Nothing changed in my diet or lifestyle to warrant this weight increase. It eventually taperd off, but it was very easy for me to put on weight after that. I had hoped when I stopped taking them 6 years later that the weight would come off and it did not. Hopefully you wont have that problem.

It's pretty common and many women experience this. Not many doctors tell you this though. They also don't tell you about the risks of breast cancer associated with birth control pills. I prefer other methods of birth control for health reasons, but they are effective when used properly. But so are other methods.
