Just a thought. I was reading a story from a survivor of the Towers. He brought out the fact that there were about 25,000 survivors from the two Towers! Not to belittle the 3,000 that died. Sure, they brought the Towers down, but we know their what they are about. They wanted to kill 28,000 people that day in the Towers, not 3,000. The buildings coming down was just the icing.
What do you all think?

Hard question to answer. In terms of lives? No. The terrorists wanted as many lives as possible. In terms of creating fear? Yes, most definately, yes. In terms of undermining the US's will to fight. No, with exception.
Look, terrorists try to scare you. Scare you into not doing the things you want to do. They don't want you to get ticked-off and fight back. They want you to cower in your room and not come out.
No, they didn't break our will, but 5 years later we still don't have Bin Laden, and we never finished wiping out the remnents of the government that gave these murderers a safe-haven. And instead of completing these two goals that were supported by everyone around the globe, most our troops are bogged down in Iraq.
What was the goal of the 9/11 hijackers? The thousands of dead and millions of dollars are just short-term objectives. They want you to fear them. They want you to think that they can get YOU, you personally, anywhere at any time. And that the only way to stop them from doing these horrible, vile things is to give them what they want. But once they know that you'll give in, they'll never stop.
Terrorism only works when we play into our fears.

I'm sure more death would have made them happier. That is their true goal after all. As much as I hate to say it 9/11 was what it took for a leader to finally step up and go after them. I just wish more of the country would wake up to the danger we are in and stop ham stringing our efforts to combat this threat. Then maybe we can bring it to an end.

Unfortunately, they still were successful. They terrorized the American people. Now, our incompetent President is doing the terrorizing for the terrorists by rolling back many things we cherish about freedom and liberty in the name of protecting freedom and liberty.
The irony makes me ill.
The terrorists are winning because the President continues to betray America's values.

You better believe they were. We are now a country living in fear and paranoia. Rights and privileges have been taken away or surrendered to government in the name of false security. And the sad fact is that with all these precautions, attacks will still continue.

The ramifications of 9/11 are more far reaching than the body count and the real estate. If you don't believe it, try to go meet grandma at her gate at the airport. Chat with someone in the US concentration camp in Guantanemo Bay. Count the dollars and lives lost in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The terrorists (I hate the word) were more than successfully on 9/11. They didn't expect the Towers to collapse, and they laughed with joy. Sick, Sick, Sick.

Yes, the terrorists were successful because they killed innocent people. They didn't think the towers would fall at all, that was more than icing. They won because WE have changed our lives because of them after one attack that cost maybe $500,000. Whole countries haven't hurt us as much as bin Laden did.

They were not total failures. Had they attacked later in the day tens of thousands could have been killed!
