I've had good results with
(a) soaking and rinsing in almost-boiling water (may shrink the pants, though, or mess up the nylon or lycra)
(b) leaving outside in the shade for a month to air.

White vinegar (without diluting) and pour on the pants. Let set around 1/2 to 1 hour and then wash in oxiclean and the smell should come out.

Get a small bottle of Vanilla extract and mix about half the bottle in the wash water where only the trousers are being washed. run the wash about half through and let stand for several hours. Resume washing and add a small amount of detergent

Try soaking it overnight in undiluted vinegar. Vinegar removes almost every smell, and it also cuts through solvents. It won't harm or damage your clothing. Your clothes will just smell like a pickle until they dry or until you wash them. I hope it works for you!

Use them for painting ... for ever. It's really hard to do, all I can say is keep wearing 'em so they air it little by little, and keep washing them. I'm a painter myself [that scent doesn't bother me] .. it just goes away in time. [unless you want to cover it up with some other nasty chemical scent]
