You said it!!
Liberalism IS their religion and since it isnt yours, they are not tolerant of your views. Just one model among many of liberal hypocrisy.

I vote Democrat, and I am a church-going Methodist.
It is one thing to have faith. It is completely another to shove it down someone's throat. There is this little thing in the Constitution about the separation of church and state. The government is a great place to have faith - it is not the place for religion. Believing and living by the Ten Commandments is one thing, but having a statue of them in a government building is a completely different thing.
What one must think about is that the entire country - which the laws are meant to represent and govern - is not of the Christian faith. There are many faiths, and some that do not claim a faith and some that don't believe in a higher power at all. THAT is what the Republicans forget.
And they claim to be the party for the people. . . LOL

Thanks for the great question John. Exposing this evil is important.
Marxism is not tolerant and that is what you are seeing.
I would guess over 90% of those who call themselves liberals are in fact socialists, but since the term has such an ugly meaning that they hide behind liberal and democrat.
The accepted liberal ideology in congress and america today is straight line marxism.
You see this is how it stands, 10% of americans are liberal, truly and 10% are conservative. The majority of the rest are somewhere in between with the exception of the socialists who are seeking to overthrow our country and its constitution starting with freedom of speech (political correct and multi-culturism) and the right to bear arms in defense of home and country.
The socialists are very good with the big lie, pelosi, clintoon and the rest use the media like a fine violin leading the sheep to the slaughter, with them of course fat, happy, rich and in POWER.

I don't have a problem with religious people. The only ones I am wary of are fundamentalists (of all faiths). I have two particular worries about them.
1) They would educate children in ways I find highly objectionable, essentially imposing their faiths to the inclusion of all others on minds too young to defend themselves against the kind of propaganda religious adults can come up with.
2) They disrespect the principle of separation of Church and state. They would have the courts and law-makers make judgments based on faith, which is a clear violation of the principles of modern democracies.
If religious people don't do either of these two things, I think their faith is their business.

Yes it's appears true, However, separation of church and state sshould remain strong. It really has nothing to do with the faith-less so to speak. It just gets crazy when the two intertwine. I'm religious, but not a fanatic, and the church should be very far away from the white house. the Democrats protect this, and so do the Republicans, the republicans just are very conservative in their views. I don't think liberals are afraid, I just think they are a hyper authority in keeping the division of the two. Whether they are asked to or not.

I don't think it's the idea that a person is religious that throws off Democrats, I think it's when a person lets their religion dictate their choices.
Look, religion's a great thing. It'll make you feel better when you're grieving. It can give you moral guidance on ambiguous issues. Or you could simply use it for networking and dating. Whatever you use it for, don't let religion intercede on your common sense.
Religion's not some type of Democratic candidate Kryptonite. And BECAUSE they see themselves as "party of acceptance and tolerance" they don't want anybody pushing their religious views onto people who don't agree with those views or religion.
The main thing is Democrats see religion as a private matter and politics as a public matter. And just as Republicans don't want Gays or Lesbians spouting their propaganda, the Democrats don't want religions to spread theirs.

The people you "hear" doing all this complaining are probably on the TV, or writing for the newspapers, or babbling online, right?
How about the people who are filling the pews of the Catholic, Episcopal, Methodist, and Baptist Churches?(too many other churches as well to list) They AREN'T ALL Republicans. Stop believing the devisive rhetoric of the political Big Mouths, on BOTH sides of the aisle. This is destroying America. Use common sense, look at your friends and members of your community. People are basically good, but we are being taught a whole new discrimination to practice; that of which political party you belong. Bad, bad, bad; shame on us.

So where is your "acceptance and tolerance" of liberals? No liberal minds a person having beliefs so long as they do not use those beliefs to try to deny rights and freedoms to others. The opposition is to destroying the Constitutional separation of church and state.
Why aren't you equally outraged by "republicans" hell bent on destroying this republic? Could be you are wee tad lacking in tolerance yourself.
And you might wish to educate yourself in political science. "Liberal" is not an synonym for "Democrat."

Who is scared of religion? A liberal such as myself doesn't hate religion, I hate the institution of religion. It has been a corrupt institution since midevil times. I also hate when people force their religion on people because along with freedom comes the freedom from people who try to lay their beliefs on me. I think i government has worked great without religion and we should keep it that way. That is whats causes wars and revolutions an idea a religious idea that tears people apart. Example Islam and Christianity has brought terror to everyone in america even to the ones that choose not fight the religion battle.

It's the narrow view of the evangelicals christians we object to. They want to "return" the USA to it's christian origins, which means their form of christianity, their set of "morals" that they want to impose on everyone. If you look at the surveys, you'll see the evangelicals are a minority, but they claim to speak for all. Liberals want a system that allows everyone to do their own thing without having someone shoving their beliefs into peoples lives.

It's not true that Democrats are so scared and intimidated by people of faith. It's the extremist bible thumpers that want to force their faith on someone that scare us. This is not what religion is all about. God said that not everyone that yells "God! God!" will get to Heaven, and he also gave us a free will to make up our own minds as to what religion they want to belong to. As for me, I don't believe in Religion. My faith is within me and not withing some building that fills it's walls with incense and false prayers to the almighty dollar. No man has a right to judge me, beit George Walker Bush or the Pope. Greater is he who is in me than he who is in the world. Amen!
