That isn't the job of our govenment. It's free enterprise. The government shouldn't step in and take away freedoms just because some people don't like it.

Do you expect the government to come and wipe your bottom also? Why don't you do something about gas prices? Use less, research the cost of continuing the present usage, find other resources for oil such as oil shales, allow exploration and refining of the US oil caches. Stop moaning and get up and express your unhappiness through action. Look into speculation markets and figure out why this is allowed. Neither the government, nor the corporations are totally at fault concerning gas and oil prices. There are many factors. Start small. Start with yourself.

I'd say that we have to be thankful that we are not paying the prices that Canada and the rest of the world is paying for gas these days. We have it cheaper. Believe me.

Because our current government is owned by the gasoline industry. High prices benefit them. Plus, they can raise the prices high, then reduce them a little before elections to get votes.

Because oil is a commodity traded on the open market. However, I have wished it would be taken out of commdity status and treated as the energy source it is (like electric).
