The actions of Luther led to the Protestant movement - primarily the Lutherian Church at the time - but also led to the various Calvinistic Churches based on the theologian John Calvin (Swiss) and the idea of the "elect." Of the over 2 billion Christian that live today - over 800 million of them are one type of Protestant with the remaning Christians falling mostly under Roman Catholicism (over one billion) or Orthodox Christian.

The new Christian faith that was started by Martin Luther is called believe or not the Lutherans. I was baptized into the particular church so was at least 3/4 of my Mother's and Dad's family. At least that many members of both sides of my family belong to that particular Christian Church.
