Yes I do. Heres my proof: They just press a couple of buttons in a studio to computer generate a looped rhythm over and over again and then "rap" or as I like to call it talking in the background. So what sort of actual musical talent do these people have? Or do they just feed this stupid crap to even more stupid who likes it for no apparent reason but comformity? If I'm wrong please correct me and provide a decent proof or else your just full of s.h.i.t.

For the 2nd comment. I wouldn't think singing would be considered as "talent". It's more of something you were obtained upon birth. You can't really learn to sing..or change your voice lol. but w/e theres my opinion on singing i guess.

i used to think the way u do. And I must say it pisses me off to see unoriginal rappers stealing perfectly good songs from the 70's 80's 90's and on. But with that said I have to admit that it takes some degree of skill to "flow" like Dre, snoop, Eminem... I saw Nelly perform live on some show. They did it with no instruments. I don't know if you are familiar with Country Grammer but they performed that song and it was one of the most impressive live performances I have ever seen. Also writing rap "lyrics" takes some talent as well. If you think of how fast some rappers rattle off words and how long the song is.... It is 5 times as many words as a rock or pop song. I am not a fan of rap but I can recognize talent when it is there.
As far as liking it because of conformity the same could be said about any genera of music. I like the music I listen to because someone somewhere turned me on to it, as I am sure is the same for most people.
We can't all like the same things but we can respect the like of others.
On a funny side note did you see Snoop try to sing Metallica when St. anger was coming out??? LOL it was funny as hell. That man cannot sing. but he can rap.

I agree with you. It takes no special talent to talk. Singing requires talent, dedication, and it is difficult.
Noone in the class of '08 likes rap. We all like rock and the seniors say that we were the best freshman class off all. This year, all the freshman like rap, and everyone thinks that they are horrible. That's no coincidence. Sorry if that's random... I have been kicked by too many freshman today. Now they're on my list. >.<

You're right. People who do rap just don't know how to sing and have no real musical talents at all. Rap is just basically talking, and if they want to put beats into it, they steal the beats from other songs and then mix the songs up. A guy once said rap was the closest "music" we had to Africa, but I think he got music and talking mixed up.

I hate mainstream rap,all they rap about is their 20" rims, how hard they are,and how many guns they have, etc. but some underground hip hop artists actually have songs about things of some substance, not just material things like cars, clothes, etc even women are treated as material possessions. Its pretty funny though when my school has rallies all the black kids go dumb and get hyphy/stupid.

Some of them have talent, but some don't, just like with any kind of music. Rap does seem to attract an awful lot of wannabes, though.

Of course rappers have talent! They're poets, so they have writing talent. In addition to that, they have musical talent of a sorts. To put those two things together seamlessly takes talent. So, to sum up, I think you're quite wrong.

It takes a great deal of talent to tone your voice and get it to sound good. Just because you get a group of long haired WHITE guys up on stage while they play gutairs drums and yell and screm yeah thats music. But when people like you say something like that about rappers its because pretty much every sucessful rapper is black or hispanic not white.
