How do I prevent this?

It depends on how much you want to spend. Exhaust fan in the bathroom will help, though it's not perfect, but it's cheap if it's already there ;-)

You've got the $, you can purchase a Mirror Heater such as the Clear Mirror.

Nothing will completely prevent the mirror from steaming up, but improved ventilation in the washroom will certainly help. Your washroom should have a mechanical ventilation unit - turn it on a few minutes before you turn on the water, and leave it running for at least 15 minutes after the water is shut off. If you don't have a "bathroom fan", as they are typically called, open your window a few inches and leave the washroom door open a bit as well.

Many people claim that if you apply shaving cream to a mirror then remove it with a squeegee it will minimize the steam on the mirror for a few showers. I haven't tried this one myself, but many of the old wives' tales do actually work.

If you leave the bathroom door open a little bit then your mirror won't steam because the hot air will be able to escape and there will be an influx of cooler air from outside the bathroom.

In the automotive section of Wal-Mart they sell stuff that prevents your windows from fogging up. I assume the same could be used for mirrors, or things around the house. There's a possibility they sell the same thing for home mirrors, but I'm not sure, and don't know where you would find it.

Also, if you whipe a mirror with soap, then whipe it all off, it won't fog up. That's temporary, though.

There are meany options:
- If you have a window open it.
- In case u dont have a window, open the door.
- Let the mirror get steamed, and after you get out of the shower splas cold water into it. (Dont use a towel to remove the steam, that only makes the steam harder to remove,I usually just splash cold water to it)

Spray it with the two: Ajax spray and wipe <---- this works good as!! or some forms of deoderant! And pushing a dry towel hard agaist the mirror and slowly wiping it downward will make a steamed up mirror crystal sparkling!

This really works.
Shaving cream.Rub it over the mirror and let sit for a few minutes. Then wipe of.Doesn't come off easy.
It's a pain do do , but it works for about 2-3 weeks.
Give it a try.

put a fan next to it and keep the room on the warm side, or turn on the bathroom heater. Or just blow a hair dryer at it for a few seconds.

Rainex in the auto section. If it does steam up, use a blow dryer to quickly remove the steam.
