Use a file recovery program. Tune-up Utilities 2006 has a decent undelete program.

Files on your computer aren't "deleted", they're just marked as being overwritable, so if you act fast enough, you should be able to restore the file before it's corrupted.

You will need to get hold of a file recovery program. Check Download.com. Choose 'Utilities & Drivers' then 'File & Disk Management' from the list on the left. Alter the Filter by: drop down boxes to show your operating system (eg Windows XP) and the license type to Free. Click on the Filter button and you will be given a list of the matching programs. Scroll down this list and you will find SoftPerfect File Recovery 1. This is supposed to do what you want but there are no reviews as yet given so I can't say how well it works. To download it, Click on the name and then on Download Now (words or graphic) and follow the prompts.

First, be aware that the more you use your computer the more likely this data will be corrupted or overwritten. If it was a small file use the trial version of active undelete (free only 3 times for small files) - otherwise ask around for a norton recovery disk (or worst case buy one); just keep in mind that once the files are emptied from the recylce bin they are considered free space to the drive. Active Undelete states that it can recover files overwritten up to three times (the government goes by 11 times for unrecoverable) - so good luck.

Without getting a poweful HDD reconstruction program that reads the surface of the drive and tries to retrieve data that way. You can't. The point of the Recycle Bin is somewhere to delete things and are stored incase you need it back.

Go to Stompsoft's website and get their file restoration program. It's called Recover Lost Data and it can retreive deleted files.

Go to your recycle bin, and open it. Take the file you need and put it into the place you intended to put it - or just in Desktop til you figure out what you want to do with it.
