I used to work at a Sears Auto shop. We had people come in all the time with a piece of electrical or duct tape covering their check engine light. I always got a kick out of that! Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it went away!
My Check engine light comes on periodically when I don't tighten the gas cap properly after refueling. Other than that, hopefully it won't come on for a good long while. (Knock on wood).

I was all last week after I filled up but it was because I didn't get the gas cap thingy on right. I don't know anything about cars.I just found out today I been calling my car the wrong thing.lol

Sadly, yes. I've been afraid to take it into the garage because they'll tell me I need to spend $300 or something on it!
Actually a friend of mine checked it for me and tells me I just really need a tune up.
