If not for his injury, Pujols. But he lost all his momentum and blew his potentially legendary season (and my fantasy team's as well). Fact is, Howard put up more homers and more RBIs. Plus, his team has gotten much better while he went on his tear that put him into the MVP conversation, while Pujols let his team down with the injury, and the production they count on from him just hasn't been there as much this second half. If the Phillies make the playoffs, it seals the deal. Here is my Top 10 MVP candidates for the NL (After Reyes though, I don't think anyone has a legitimate shot at finishing in the top 3 in voting though)...
1. Ryan Howard, Phillies
2. Albert Pujols, Cardinals
3. Carlos Beltran, Mets
4. Alfonso Soriano, Nationals
5. Miguel Cabrera, Marlins
6. Jose Reyes, Mets
7. Lance Berkman, Astros
8. Jason Bay, Pirates
9. Andruw Jones, Braves
10. Adam Dunn, Reds

You are giving the wrong options why, because Carlos Beltran have carry the Mets on his shoulders all season long and haven't stop doing it. Beltran gets really hot when playoff comes around so he is my NL MVP this year so stop saying Pujols or Howard cause is the Phillies don't win the wild card he ain't going to be the MVP and Pujols may be good but Beltran is an outfilder with Gold Glove writen all over so there is my answer.

Pujols is the best hitter in the game, but If the Phillies grab the wildcard spot, it'll be Howard all the way. Forget about Beltran.

Probably Pujols, because he is better known--Howard is only a second-year player. Beltran won't win for a couple of reasons, but mostly because the rest of the country's media hates New York. That's why Jeter won't win in the AL.

It seems unfair to me that MVPs, seem to come from wild card teams a lot now, it seems that players from division winners are penalized for having "too much help" which is a bunch of crap. I think that the player from a division winner should win, isn't it better to be first. I'd pick Pujols. The Cardinals have two 8 game losing streaks, have had inconsistent pitching and have struggled offensively at times, but he's been consistent all year long. It's a shame he missed three weeks this year. Howard has carried the Phils, but come on, they are challenging for the wild card, Pujols team will win the Central!! Also, the Phillies play in a "bandbox" where homers fly out. Howard has great power, but you have to assume a lot of his homers would have been flyball outs elsewhere.
However, I am an American League fan, and I'm too excited about my Yanks winning their 9th straight division title, and who are about to end their six -year drought now that they play more as a team!! GO YANKS!!!

Pujols gets it because there will be enough voters in the ECMB (east coast media bias) that will split between Beltran and Howard and still put Pujols as #2.

Ryan howard for the fact that he'll probably get 60 and Pujols just didn't have the same team presence as he did last year. Last year, people didn't wanna face the cards lineup, now people just don't wanna face pujols. If he didn't get injured though, I think he'd be in a HR title race with Howard, and he'll definately get he mvp. But like I said, right now, it's Ryan Howard.

This is how its gonna go
1.Carlos Beltran
2.Ryan Howard
3. Albert Pujols
4. Jose Reyes
Carlos Beltran because he has carried the Mets into owning the NL and he is going to definetly help them make a World Series push. As for Ryan Howard he's really good this year I mean any other year but if he had lead the Phillies in the playoffs he would've been in a shoo-in as NL MVP.

Pujols by a nose, as it stands now. If Howard blasts off 5 more HRs, then you might see it go to him. You have to take the whole year into account, and even though Howard is the bomb right now, Pujols was in April and May.

Well, despite me being a Phillies fan, I really do think Howard will win. Why you ask?
1) He has led a team that could be play-off bound all season along with Utley
2) He is leading all of baseball in Homeruns and RBI's
3) Unlike Pujols, he hasn't been injured and has been contributing every day.
