I was thinking of frachises and a gas station seems resonable. I mean some get a lot of car ever hour that buy a tank of gas. Am i wrong? DO gas station owners not make that much money?

The gross markup on gasoline runs around 12 cents per gallon. Pump maintainance, drive offs, etc. come out of that. As already said by others it is the other items (other than lotto tickets) where the money is made. Best draw I think is to have a Subway in the store. LOT of hours and employee issues to deal with.

An acquaintance of mine owns a gas station... He makes only about $5,000 a year off the gas...(has approx. 6 pimps ) the rest goes to the Gas Company..Not fair I say but that is the price of doing business.

If you want a gas station, be sure it has a heck of alot more to offer than just gas unless you can live off $5,000 a year.

Good Luck ! : )

It also depends on the location. Do extensive market research before plowing any money. Check out the competition and if possible talk to some of the store workers (sometimes at night they get bored and will tell you more than they should :) ).

they don't make much money at all on the gas, it's the other things people buy that they get their biggest profit on.
