I need help finding a small aquarium (5-10 gal) online. Would someone please check some out and show me please, I'm having trouble finding good prices. How many small freshwater fish such as platies could be put in a 2.5 gallon minibow??? How many in a 10 gallon??? Help please.. and what are chances my female platy is already pregnant from the pet store??

Do sunset platies have a big biological load in aquariums??? Also, what should I do with my fish when I go on a avacation of 1 week or longer?

The general rule is one inch of fish needs 1 gallon of water. So, platies get to about 2 inches, so a 2.5 gallon tank gets one fish. The thing is, platies want lots of friends, so go with the 10 gallon, you can have 5 fishies.
The probability that they are preggers from the pet store is more that good. They like being pregnant.
I really don't like online shopping for pets or pet supplies. If you go to a fish store and pay just a little more, you get so much very valueable advise and instruction from experts who know what they are talking about. It's worth the little extra you spend. (Hey, you have to pay delivery fees anyway and they can be killer) Don't go to Petco or Petsmart, those people are idiots. Go to a specialty aquarium store. You won't be sorry.
If you insist, www.drsfosterandsmith.com has everything for pets.

The weight and size of any aquarium you buy would make shipping costs almost equal to the price of the aquarium in most cases. Although, I would suggest scanning through e bay. If you go on vacation, there are dried seaweed sheets that make excellent long-term feeders, or you can buy an automatic fish feeder, or you can have the person who picks up you mail feed them occasionally. I have a salt water tank and freshwater tanks and I regularly go away for up to four days without feeding the fish, and my mother has a well-planted tank of mostly guppies and she will leave them for two weeks without a problem.

The dissolving feeder blocks are never a good idea, they have too much of an impact on the biological system of your tank, and if there is a problem, you aren't there to fix it.
Platys can store sperm for some time and wait for conditions to be right for dropping fry, but it can take many months and in your tiny tank, they would only be dinner.

Just go to walmart or petsmart, have a complete 10 gallon set up without a heater for about 25. Probably cheaper than what you'd find online once shipping is included.

Very possible she is pregnant from the store. If you're buying the tank for the babies, just buy a breeder net, or let them be and let nature take it's course with them.
