This is a trick question. The state that is easternmost of all 50 states is Alaska. The state that is westernmost of all 50 states is also Alaska. Why? Since the International Date Line or 180 degrees longitude or the divider between the Eastern and Western Hemisphere runs through the south western part of Alaska. It is both the farthest east in the Eastern Hemisphere and the farthest west in the Western Hemisphere. This is only if one follows the meridian designated as 180 degrees from Pole to Pole. International agreement warps the line around the Aleutian Islands to keep all of Alaska in the same time zone and hemisphere. However, if you look closely, the 180 meridian goes right through them. So, find the city in the islands immediately to the left of the line in the islands and that will be the eastern most city in the eastern hemisphere before getting into the western hemisphere--in a from west to east direction of travel. If you don't want to be so technical about it, then yes, the eastern most city is somewhere in Maine. Our only something-est/most claim to fame here in Florida is the Southernmost Point in the continuous 48 down near Key West.
