Xanax is in the FDA pregnancy category D. This means that Xanax is known to be harmful to an unborn baby. Do not take this medication without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment.
You really need to talk to your doctor; he or she will help you in weaning yourself off the drug and advise you about the potential health of your unborn child.
I wish you a happy and healthy baby. good luck to you...

do no longer take any of it. I purely found out i'm 6 weeks pregnant & I actual have been on Lorazepam 0.5mg thrice an afternoon for a twelve months now. i finished taking it as quickly as i found out. I had poor withdrawls & asked the ob ordinary practitioner for something that would desire to curve the indicators & grew to become into advised that benzos, like xanax would reason start defects simular to Fetal alcohol syndrome in babies b/c that's a depressant. noticeably in the process the 1st trimester it incredibly is the main severe. start defects ensue for the period of 5-10 weeks gestation. So stay remote from it. you could no longer substitute what you already took so stay stable. I purely had 2 weeks of withdrawls & have been given via it. that is actual nicer to be responsive to you could manage issues w/ postive thinking & workout. evade caffeine too b/c it makes the rigidity worse. sturdy success

Xanax should not be taken while pregnant. You should call your doctor right away to get on an alternative medicine that is not harmful to your baby. The first trimester is the riskiest with any drug.
Good luck with your pregnancy :)

Some anti-depressent meds are ok during pregnancy. I don't know if Xanax is one of them. Please talk to your doctor. Do not just stop taking them. You will probably have a fairly rough time with withdrawl if you don't wean yourself properly. You should do this under a doctor's supervision.

some anxiety meds are fairly safe to take while pregnant...but most are not recomended...there are possible unknown side effects from it, of course sometimes your doctors may feel it is better to continue with the drugs because the benefits out weigh the risks...talk to your doctors, because if they type your taking isn't okay then can give you one that is.

i am not sure if it hurts the baby like for sure, because there are some meds do not hurt babies.. BUT, let me tell you this, i have been taking this med and Brozac for years, to evevtually realise that they do NOT affect my anxiety or mood a bit, because they are low volume, it was all mentally..
do you what i did, i stopped ( did not plan it Actually) i was so busy to remember taking them, same period of time, i started drinking commomile tea ALOTTTT, and i mean it by alot..
NOW , i really deny it to my friends and family when they accuse me of how bad mood i used to have. i really do not even remember my anxiety.
please give it a try, by the way commile tea,is AMAZING for the baby as well :)

Talk to your doctor! My doctor wouldn't let me start on any psychiatric meds until after I weaned my baby. So, I would imagine that taking it while pregnant is worse.
