If they told you you were six weeks pregnant, those Early ultrasounds are usually very accurate , especially with the vaginal probe. If they said 6 weeks that means you conceived 4 weeks prior to the date of the ultrasound. If you are trying to determine the babies father, there is no way to tell unless you get a DNA test. If you provide additional information like possible dates of conception, we can probably narrow it down to one IF they are MORE than 10 days apart. It won't be 100% though

The earlier the ultrasound is done, the more accurate it is. My first one was done at 10 weeks, and they changed the due date to reflect the gestation of the baby, rather than go by my last period. THey only changed it by a few days, though, so I don't really get the point.

Anyway, If the doctor said that you are 6 weeks along, then conception happend approximately 4 weeks ago. They count from the beginning of your cycle, and conception happens at the midpoint, so the first two weeks, you weren't even pregnant yet! It seems kinda silly, but that's how they do it.

So to find the date of conception, you'll want to count back 4 weeks, and see if you can remember which night that week you 'baby danced.' Good luck, and remember, conception can take place up to three days after intercourse, so even if you know exactly which night you had sex, that might not be the exact day of conception.

Congratulations on the baby!

They are accurate within a week... so technically you could be 5-7 weeks but generally they are right on.

I had weekly ultrasounds because I had a high risk pregnancy & I have a very smart, active & healthy girl - so ignore people who say ultrasounds are bad for the baby.

It all depends on your body and the size of your baby. If you have a large baby, then they might think you are a little farther along than you are. But that is also why they tell you that you due date is estimated and the baby could come 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after your due date. But they are pretty accurate these days. Just try not to worry too much about it. Congrats and good luck!

Did you have this done right when you missed your period? You are technically 6 weeks pregnant by the time you miss a period. Baby's actual gestational age is 4 weeks, but pregnancy starts counting at the first day of your last period. I'm still a little confused by that-why they don't just say 4 weeks since thats the baby's age, but whatever. As long as baby is healthy don't worry. Baby will come when he/she is ready. Good Luck!

I wonder the same thing myself, every day! I had an u/s done early at 9.3 weeks which means I ovulated later in my cycle and the baby's father could be one of two men! I've asked two of the OB's at the group I go to and they insist that was more accurate than using my last menstrual period since it was done so early. The later they are done the less accurate they are!

They way they explained it to me, you can never really pinpoint the EXACT date of conception. My due date has been everyday in Feb. so far. Initially they based it on when I was showing symptoms, like M/S and missed period. Then they did they doppler and it changed. FINALY, it is based on my ultrasound. I asked around and it seemed pretty common. Find out you due date, then back it up from there.

my early ones were right on target, my later ones showed me to be later, but my son was big baby. Oh yeah and remember they start the pregnancy from the first day of your last period which is weird and then count 40 weeks from then....

Ultrasound was off with both of my pregnancies. with my first it was about a week off and with my second it was about 2 weeks off. it was later confirmed at my 2 ultrasound (around 22-24 weeks of pregnancy.) that both pregnancies were off!

My only experience was w/ my miscarriage. I know I was 8 weeks and they said I was 6. This was a week before my miscarriage and we did see a heartbeat.

I'm sure you are fine... Best of luck

Sorry if this is a downer... I just wanted to give you my experience.
