There are 3 guys. they go to a restaurant and when they have to pay, the bill is $30. Each guy pays $10. The waiter takes the $30 (3 x $10) and takes it to the cashier. The cashier feels bad for the guys who just paid $30 and give the waiter $5 to take back to the guys (dont ask why, he just did!!!). On the way back the waiter puts $2 out of that $5 in his poket and gives each one of those guys $1. So that means each guy has paid $9 instead of $10 (10 - 1 = 9).

So now since each guy paid $9 instead of $10 leats multiply 9 by 3 (3 guys, each paid $9) and the answer is $27. the waiter pocketed $2...so lets add that to the $27 (27 + 2 = 29). So the total bill now is $29 instead of $30!!!!! what happened to that $1?!!!!!

The cashier gave the waiter back $5, so the bill only ended up being $25. The waiter pocketed $2 and gave each one of the guys $1. So, the bill for each one was only ($25/3) $8.667. So there is where the extra $1 came from in your question.
25+2+3=30

Your totally messing it up. Until you got to this part...

"The waiter pocketed $2",

...but that wasn't from the $30 bill, that was from the $5 the cashier gave them.

It's really $35 - 2(waiter) - 3(guys) - 30(bill)

The store made 30-5 = 25
The waiter made = 2
The guys paid 3*10 - 3*1 = 27

25 store made + 2 waiter made = 27 amt guys paid

2 $ waiter got was from resturant owner and not from the guys. guys paid 30 got back 1 $ each which is 27$.
The two dollar he got was from cashier and taht has no connection to 30 $ guys paid.

You don't add the $2, you subtract it from the $27, bringing the total to $25.

you should have subtracted the $2 from the 27 to get that the restaurant gained $25.

tehe that was a clever one. I almost thought you'd proved it possible to deny the mathmatical laws.
