I think it is a BAD Move for Business.wal-mart will lose money .

I agree I think it is a bad business decision. There are people out there who counted on the layaway, and credit card purchases are nothing like a layaway, you buy on credit you pay more for the Item.I used layaway at Christmas, just because it was more convenient for me,I had what I wanted for my kids and they could not nose around and find it.I hope wal-mart reconsiders this choice they have made.

I think they were losing a lot of good merchandise that could have been sold. A lot of people would go put the stuff on lay-away around Thanksgiving and give a small deposit and would never go back and pick it up. Then about a week before Christmas they would have to put it back on the shelves hoping someone would buy it at the last minute. Plus it took a lot of money to staff up the lay-away counters. They are probably doing all this because it is good business and they are trying to keep the prices down for everyone else.

Besides this is 2006 there is another form of lay-away. Its called credit cards!!!

What, wal-mart is doing away with lay-away. No way. Ok, I don't use lay-away that much, but I know alot of people that do, and without lay-away people can't afford more expensive items for Christmas and birthdays. You are right, they will lose money over this. I mean, I saw something I just had to have and it cost $80.00 and I only had $20 on me. I put it on lay-away because it is something that they rarely have in stock. Maybe that is cheating alittle bit. Maybe wal-mart is trying to find a way to cut costs, but they will find that they are cutting out customers that need lay-away and those customers will find a way to make those more expensive purchases somewhere else

Why do you say they will lose money? Target dont have a lay-away and they were rated #1 in forbs magazine for 2005. Sure its going to hurt alot of people, that dont have the money right up front, but does wal-mart care about people??? hell no

I do not think it matters. They are in business and they are trying to save money. Nowadays there are more people using credit cards than layaway. For Christmas presents-- try saving ahead, like putting $25-50 from every paycheck in a separate account. ;)

I think it's great, because it just encourages people to spend money when they can't afford it. When you can't afford to pay for something from Wal-Mart in full with just one payment, that's sad.

I only grocery shop at Wally World so I could care less. They don't have a decent toy section for my 5yo here so we have to travel to find what she wants.

Once again, Walmart does not care about the little guy. Unless he has a lot of money.
