My best friend is coming to visit me for one night- I never get to see her and we have been friends since we were 10. My boyfriend doesn't like her bc she thinks she can smoke in our house and go through our fridge. He says she is ugly and rude. Now I am nervous it's going to be bad when she gets here bc of my boyfreinds attitude. Should I be mad at him- does he have the right to act this way?

He is jealous of your friend because it will take time away from him. He sounds insecure. Don't let him start telling you you can't see your friends, it's a bad sign. Yes you should be MAD at him, I would be.

To do these things IS rude. She should respect the fact that it isn't just her best friends house, it's her friend and her boyfriends house. If the owners do not smoke, then it is in no way ok for the guest to smoke in the house. And the only time someone should be getting anything to eat or drink is when it is handed to them by the host or invited to get it themselves by the host. You should mention that you don't smoke inside, and make it a point to offer to GET her something to eat or drink.

Your boyfriend has a good point, It is rude to come to someones house and smoke. Tell your friend not to smoke inside the house when she comes over, and about the fridge
what you can do is offer her some thing to eat before se feels the necessity to help her self.
This way you can save your self from arguing with your bf.

No you should not be mad at him and your friend needs to respect the fact that he doesn't want any smoking in the house and she should know that she just can't go through peoples fridge without permission, even if ya'll are best friends.

I can see where he is comming from but boys should respect your friends no matter what. They made a commitment to you and your friends are a part of you so basically he made a commitment to your friends. It's as simple as that, he has a right to his opinion but he doesn't need to express it and act rude around her. If you have a problem with her doing that stuff though, then maybe YOU should talk to her about it. I mean she is YOUR friend and friend's don't make other friend's and their boyfriends mad. So don't get mad just work it out.

If both of you don't want anyone smoking in your home then you should let her know, the same with her going through the fridge. If you don't care for her doing it then let him know how you feel and if he still wants to act childish you should be mad at him.

There's really no reason for anyone getting mad.
It's only for one night....and it is YOUR friend. One that you
don't see that often. Why not just ask your boyfriend to find
something to do for that evening and you enjoy the company
of your friend. And I hope the two of you have a wonderful time.
And if you would rather her not smoke inside....tell her.....a true friend won't mind.

Hmmmm could have sworn i just answered your mans question referring to the same thing..lol....to agree with him i dont think she should smoke in the house if he doesnt smoke. But as far as the food thing,,,he needs to deal with for one friggin night. He needs to be civil for your sake. Just have a good time with your friend and dont even worry about him. He will get over it.

If you think it's perfectly all right for her to smoke in your house, or perfectly all right for anyone to smoke in any house, and eat your food, I say you can be mad. He should be understanding. Also, keep in mind what we learned in middle school: Friends before lovers.
