Children had fun with a regular Bic blue pen on armrest. I tried a little of non-acetone nail polish remover but it only caused some of the brown color to come off. I also heard hairspray but I am not sure which kind, i.e holding, sheen.

At this point, I am desperate!!

Please help...

Ink on leather is not always a straightforward cleaning problem. Firstly it depends on the type of leather you have.

If it is an aniline style leather then the ink will have soaked into the leather and there will be no way it will come out. It may dissipate over time but cannot be extracted.

If it is a pigment leather then there is more of a chance of removing it. An ink stick should be your first prot of call. This may or may not remove it depending on how long it has been on. If it does not remove it you will need to call in a leather technician as he will need to use solvents which will also remove the finish and colour and will need replacing. This is what has happened when you used nail varnish remover. The colour you have removed will also need replacing.

If you use a good leather protector it will help if this happens again.

Hairspray can work at times on pigment leathers (do not even think about it on an aniline style) but it can also make matters worse.

Have you tried Mr Clean Magic Eraser? Or you might want to try Goo Gone.
Or try dabbing a bit of lighter fluid on a soft cloth and gently rub .
