Gas was 20 cents a gallon, one cent for a piece of candy, 30 cents for a loaf of bread.

First of all "costed" is not a word, and candy would've been one cent 20-30 years ago.

Well over 10 or so years ago I could buy lollies for a cent, or 3 for 5 cents etc.........

About 22 years ago I would go to the little convenience store and buy penny candies, like laffy taffy when it was still cubes, and Boston baked beans ( you could blow on the box after you ate the candies and it would whistle) lemon heads, and red hots too.
