i was having problems with my windows xp and then had to recover it and it happens that i have lost my re-rewritable i want to know that do i have to install it back or there is a problem with my drive all together. i need reply quickly

First off, try to boot the cd. Put in a bootable cd and boot the cd before the computer loads windows. If this works then your cd drive is still working. If not then your drive is bad.

If it boots, go to windows, control panel, system, device manger,
and uninstall all the drivers for your cd drive. Then reboot the system and windows should reinstall all the drivers for the cd drive and all will work. Email me for more questions if you have them. GOOD LUCK>

Try going into the device manager and uninstall the drive and then reboot. The drivers may have gotten corrupt. This will reinstall the drivers for the drive.
