The molecules in the atmosphere tend to scatter the shorter light wavelengths (the blue end of the spectrum), thus making that part of the sun's light seem to be from all directions. The same phenomenon makes the sun seem red at sunrise and sunset. More atmosphere for the light to travel through, thus more of the blue is gone from the direction of the sun.

The sky is blue because of the oxygen in Earth's atmosphere. Other planets don't have blue skies because the air of other planets do not contain oxygen. For example, Mars also has an atmosphere, but it does not contain oxygen, so the sky of Mars is not blue. Also, the moon does not have any atmosphere at all, so that's why there is no sky on the moon you can see the stars all the time.

the high frequency waves, which are blue light, are scattered in the upper atmosphere, so they appear to come from the sky and the sky appears blue. it is similar to the reason why the sky is orange at sunset.

the reason seawater appears blue is because it absorbs infrared light, so it also absorbs a lot of red light, and reflects blue and green wavelengths, so we see cyan.

In short form.... the sun produces light.....light is made up of different colours.....these colours are sent to us in wavelengths.....most wavelengths pass right through our atmosphere......however blue wavelengths get caught in gas molecules and get scattered around the sky (kind of like millions of mirrors) and make our sky look blue.
