I really wanna go to a college in California. I want to go to a semi-big to big college that has a really nice campus and is affordable. I would like to major in something that has to do with English or Film Studies. Know of anywhere like that?

I've got great grades... but I can't afford much more than 42,000 a year.

I don't live in California... would living there for a few months before starting college lower my tuition?

Well if you don't want to spend much, I would suggest a CSU (California State University). I live in California so I know a lot about some of the colleges. U need to add more details about what u want in a college. For example, do u like a school with lots of parties and activities going on? or one with really assiduous students?
Party Schools: Chico State, Santa Cruz University (got a great campus tho. I think it's ranked #16 best campus on Princeton Review), San Diego State.
Diligent Schools: UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC San Diego (Heard the students have a good balance between fun and work, but that most kids there are rich. Think "the O.C."), UC Irvine.
Easy Universities to get into: UC Merced, UC Santa Cruz, and UC Irvine, CSU Eastbay, any community college.
Boring schools that don't have a lot of events or student activities/Schools where ppl don't socialize much: CSU Eastbay (I attend that one because it has my major and is very close by so I save THOUSANDS of money. Also I've always been a good student anyways and get good grades), San Francisco State.
Avoid any private schools like UCLA, USC, USF, and Santa Clara University. Though they have EXCELLENT academic reputations, they will suck the money rite outta ur pocket.
For english studies, I think any school is alright. I don't know one school that's better than the other in english studies. Just make sure the school has a good reputation. Perhaps u could get a scholarship to attend a university. My friends say that UCSD has a good film studies program, but Idk. Good luck!

San Fernando State University (Csun) Located in Northridge, California in the San Fernando Valley. it is a suburb of Los Angeles.
Cal State University, Los Angeles Area
UCLA University or California Los Angeles.
Located just south of San Fernando Valley, Highly recommended and it is cooler on that side of the hill in the summer.
I would recommend CSUN OR UCLA They are tops.
if Money is a problem for you, you can take the first two years at a lower tuition Community College.
Pierce Colleg is booming right now and has the best facilities. Just make sure that the courses you take will be accepted at the upper division college.

if you really can't afford it, most private universities will give you at least enough financial aid to get the tuition below 42,000. think stanford, berkely, UCLA, etc. i'm sure you've heard of them. just remember the financial aid part.
