The people, the immense ability to adapt , accept, and survive the changes, the weather and still smile, the traditions, the freedom of speech and the endless cups of tea, which puts the Great in Great Britain, god bless it.

I don't know why I like Britain in the first place. But I have been living here for the last 20 years, so there must be something besides my husband's job that keeps us here. Take into account that I spent one year in Windsor, and the rest of the time in North Wales. So let's see . . .
The good manners displayed by a lot of people. Yes, I know - I have personally intervened in displays of bad manners when I thought it necessary. The history - in the USA, anything 200 years old is antique. Here, it goes back past counting. And yes, the weather. My previous domicile was Texas. Enough said. The NHS. As badly as it is run, you have to admit that if you are in a car accident, or have any sort of emergency, you are not turned away from the hospital because of lack of insurance or large amounts of cash. My niece was once taken to four hospitals in West Texas before one was found who would treat the 7 year old girl for poisonous snakebite. If that hospital had not admitted her, she would have died.
The folk music, and the RSCM are really great magnets for anyone interested in music. I find it interesting that a friend of mine in Berkeley, California feels the same way as I do - we are both staying where we are because we are "mired in music".
Maybe we should twin Wales and Berkeley.

Despite the present difficulties with the islamists and not being as powerful as the yanks ,Istill believe we live in one of the best countries in the world ,our economy is still growing ,no child starves unless through abusive or neglectful parents, our health care is still free at the point of delivery ,our old only starve through pride i.e.refusing to ask for benefits they are entitled,In Scotland we have free care for the elderly ,In Scotland we have no tuition fees for higher education. In Scotland we have less racism probably because we are less egotistical and have relatives all over the world who integrated into their new culture .This country has problems but bitching about it wont help ,get off your **** work together for a better society if you dont like your mp vote him out ,if you dont like the pm vote him out ,its your country remember politicians work for you ,you dont work for them use your voice and if they dont listen shout louder ,the Scots have devolution because the english labour party knew they were unelectable without Scotland the English can do the same for England only if the English people want it Athe three parliaments can work together four if N.I. and we could abolish the anachronistic local councils who have been bleedingyou and the country dry for years.

For all of its long and involved history, Britain has always occupied the same mysterious place in the hearts of the world. It is a land of beauty, grace and imagination. At its best, it is the home of hope. At its worst, it is a romance gone bad. But always, it is the place where the magical and the material meet and in meeting, create something both exotic and familiar.

What I like best about Britain is the best schools and universities and hospitals they have. Life in Britain is much easier than in Africa, Zambia.

What I like best about Britain is our unique culture. I like the friendliness of the people, the pubs, the country villages and the way we take care of traditions. May it never alter!

the people where i live in an ex mining village in south Yorkshire i know every one. who their grandma is, and what she calls her dog or cat . the rest of Britain must have left us behind were not multicultural were not PC were not polite to each other but no one is insulted Everyones kids play out in the street and if you need to go somewhere someone will feed them. we`ve got 3 pubs and 2 big WM clubs and women can walk in by them self and go to the bar cause every one in there knows you and when they all get blind drunk and fight they`re back best mates next day and you can always find someone to lend you a fiver if your skint.

Being British and having claim to this country to at least the 1600's .
Why oh why didn't we send the good people to the colonies IE Australia, Americas and all island colonies, and leave the criminals here.
Swap the Isle of man for Majorca, Isle of white for the Canaries, and the Falklands for the Greek Islands.

Old Blighty's seasons. I am a British citizen born in England. I love that our weather is so changeable and I could not live without seasons. Short but colourul summers, Autumn walks through dry crisp fallen leaves, winter jumpers and boots and breathing out visible clouds of breath but mostly our budding dewy spring mornings and the sounds of flocks of birds flying home from their southern retreats.

Without a doubt we have the best television in the world. We also have some of the best shopping on the planet. Our shops are way ahead of other countries. We also have the best capital city on earth. London is such a diverse, unique city.
