Check to see if you install it right. Maybe your motherboard can't handle 1 gb. Make sure that you have the right memory ie DDR or SRAM(and the right speed-266 SRAM) that your motherboard uses. Check to see if your jumper pins are configurated right too. You might have to change the jumper pin to accomodate for the more than 512 MB.

When your reboot, bypass to your cmos and change the memory configuration. But I would not suggest that if you don't what your doing. Your best bet is to take to a professional to check it out .
Good luck.

no till you stick to below offering all are comparable type PC3200 DDR the 512Mb stick could bypass into the fist slot (0 or a million) ( on occasion distinctive colour) the main important ram stick could continuously be the lead stick yet do examine you instruction manual. this provides you with max length in step with slot some older gadget will in trouble-free terms settle for ram in pairs 2 x ???Mb may well be max is 4 x 256Mb so do examine the instruction manual

Several possibilities. First, you didn't install it quite correctly. It's in the slot, but not making a good connection. Second, you've got a bad RAM chip. Third, your bios has disabled the bank of memory you put the chip into.
