Alcohol was served at my baby shower, I drank non alcoholic beer. I think Mimosas would be appropriate. It depends on the people that will be there.

Why not, you know the people attending better than anyone here.
I don't see a problem at all, yes it's the mother's baby shower, but it's the guest that are forking over money to buy her the gifts. If they want to have a drink and the mother doesn't have a problem with it, why should anyone here? It's suppose to be a celebration isn't it?

I just attended a B-shower on Sunday, it was co-ed and served alchohol. It was so much fun to have all the people around and the mom did not mind at all. She was rather humorous about it.

it isn't 1954 anymore and every mother is different.

Well, my opinion is usually showers are not long term parties and alcohol may be alright in moderation. But, if you know that any heavy drinkers are attending, it would be best not to. To serve mild cocktails in moderation (maybe like one round of them) probably would not hurt as long as attention is not diverted through the alcohol consumption by the person for whom the shower is being thrown. Mimosas or maybe a light spiked punch would probably be ok.....

It's really simple...what are the new parents like?? I had 2 babyshowers in June and July for my new baby and we had alcohol at both I also hosted a candle party and served margaritas which I was totally craving but could not have. Its more okay these days to hae a drink with your friends and just because someones pregnant and cant doesnt mean she cant have a virgin drink same great taste no alcohol!!

My mom through my baby shower and she served alcohol. She also invited men which was non-traditional, but that's the kind of girl I am. If you want to serve alcoholic beverages than you should serve alcohol. Do you think the mother to be will be bothered or is she more laid back?

I had no choice. I married into an Irish family so every chance people get to drink...

Sure, serve alcohal. It obviously isn't going to be the focus of the shower but have a good time. Plus it helps people to losen up and play those silly shower games.

Depends on the mom.. if she doesn't mind that she can't enjoy an alcoholic beverage.. then sure..

I know a gal who drank red wine every day of her pregnancy (With her docs permission) and so thats what they had at the baby shower....

I wouldn't have cared if it was served at my shower.. but then again, My son was early and was born before the shower... so I wasn't pregnant anymore...lol

My friend had an open bar at her baby shower. Anything goes these days. Just make sure you have a non-alcoholic option for the mother to be!

I personally don't think that alcohol should be the focus of a baby shower. Maybe you could make a nice punch and nearby another one (with alcohol in it) for those who want, but in any case I think all who attend should not expect alcohol. Prayers =)

OKAY, I HAVE BEEN TO ABOUT 25 OR 30 BABY SHOWERS IN MY LIFE AND ALL BUT 2 HAD ALCOHOL. IT WASN'T LIKE A BIG KEGGER OR ANYTHING, BUT A GLASS OF WINE, OR IN MY AREA, DRINKS LIKE BOURBON SLUSHES ARE POPULAR AT SHOWERS. THE 2 SHOWERS THAT DIDN'T HAVE ALCOHOL WERE FOR OR GIVEN BY PEOPLE WHO DIDN'T DRINK ANYWAY. HAVE FUN!
