Hi, Well my parents are looking to buy a place in the country and they want to raise pigs for food, I myself don't want to be a part of that I can't stand when an animal dies, I am an animal person, don't get me wrong I do eat some meat but I don't like to specially when I think of how they're innocent & don't deserve to die, well I have tried & tried to make them understand that it would hurt me to live at a place that's raising animals to kill them but they tell me why should everyone else suffer to make me happy and they make me feel guilty for thinking its cruel to kill animals, what do you think am I just being selfish.

Hi. Wow, Jenny, this is a hard one. You have to live your own life, but I will support you for your stand on animal rights. I am a vegetarian and I do not believe it is necessary to take the life of any animal in order for people to survive. Instead of pigs, they could be raising any number of other things. In fact, the pigs provide a less healthy diet since pork is bad for you. So the weight of logic is with you. This is not only a moral issue, it is an economic one as well. As long as we continue to be meat eating, we will consume more resources for less protein than if we encouraged a balanced vegetarian diet. Stand up not only for your rights, jenny, and for those of our animals friends, but also for all the poor people of the world who are starving while we eat meat.

You are not being selfish if this is what is in your heart. I am a Rancher and I usually have a steer processed each year to eat. your parents would more than likely have the animal processed at a processing place. I myself find my thoughts going back to the beef I raised from a baby sometimes. But you know God put them here for us to survive on. I remember when my grandfather killed a pig that I had befriended. I refused to eat it, But he sat me down and explained it to me. About God giving us animals to eat and all. But I still think about that pig every now and then. So I don't make a pet of a steer that I intend to eat. I have more than 300 animals on my ranch. I love and care for each and every one of them. So I understand your pity for animals for food. This probably hasn't enlightened your feelings, But I tried. God bless.

If you already eat meat, you are already contributing to the senseless death of animals that are innocent. The only difference is now, you can hear the screams. Living on a farm isn't that bad-it beats a crappy National Home with no yard any day. You'd have alot of land to explore, possibly even creeks, who knows. Try to make the best of it and pick the best of the worst, since it sounds like your parents are going to win anyway.

Not at all. It is against what you believe in. I met a guy once that had a nice 70k corvette and nice house and all but when I entered his living room and saw the deer head (he liked to hunt) I knew I could never be happy in a relationship with him because I couldn't respect that. It is a difficult situation for you because you arenl't an adult and can't have the final say. I wish you well though.

There is probably more to their decision than just your wants and needs. It's not that your opinion doesn't matter, but there are probably a lot of other factors in this decision.
How old are you? Concentrate on going to college and living on campus.

Maybe its not the animal farm that is bothering you. Maybe its leaving your comfortable life that you've gotten used to.
