I don't know what you mean by destruction of the middle class. We are the world's only super power. Would you rather live somewhere else? We have the highest standard of living the world has ever known. I don't like all the immigrants, or what trial lawyers (big demonrat contributors) have done to health care, but thank god we have a republican administration and congress!

Conservative republicans are not even aware that the middle class is diminishing and that the gap between the rich and the middle class is not only the widest it's ever been, it's widening at a faster rate than ever before.

A few more decades of this and we will be like any other south american country.

Destruction of the middle class is predominantly due to increased taxation brought on by the chronic increase in social program spending AS WELL AS wars we fight to defend our nation. The social programs have been in place (under Democratic initiation) for decades. This war is about 3 years old.

Health insurance costs skyrocket because doctors, nurses and hospitals are forced to care for MORE people with less of them paying into insurance pools. As the DEMAND for care goes up, the costs go up, but the number of people paying into insurance premiums goes DOWN, because of the large influx of immigrants who are either poorly insured or not at all (yet they still get medical attention). The government should not be in the business of managing personal health or healthcare, AT ALL. That is a patient/physician relationship, funded by the patient/employer/insurer. NOT THE GOVERNMENT.

Immigration was 'fixed' by Reagan in '86 with his COMPREHENSIVE plan to enforce the borders and provide amnesty to illegals in return for a path to citizenship. What resulted was no border enforcement, no path to citizenship and more labor and cheaper rates.

Outsourcing, most likely the result of unionized labor commanding higher labor rates than in other nations. Unionized labor is the bastion of Democratic politics. And as the unions squeezed the US companies for higher pay for equal or lower productivity, these companies are forced to go elsewhere for cheaper labor, or go bankrupt (both result in loss of jobs). They did go elsewhere (tech/agriculture/services) and they did go bankrupt or close to it (Ford/GM/etc.).

The government of America is not responsible for each individual's destiny. YOU ARE. If you don't like the middle class, work your tail off, educate yourself and train yourself for higher paying occupations. If you feel health insurance is too expensive, then petition your local and federal politicians to put the plug in the dike and get the DEMAND on healthcare down, so costs can come down, you can't let in millions of people a year, while 1 out of 6 hospitals are shutting down in major cities because they are overtaxed and underfunded, something has to give. I don't think Americans should have to suffer lower quality, higher cost healthcare, because we support a larger and larger population of untaxed and uninsured legal and illegal aliens.

The middle class must constantly update its skillset, training and outlook in the job market. The middle class must also demand lower taxation and force the government to make the right decisions (vs. the ones they tend to make under special interest pressure). The health insurance and outsourcing problems take care of themselves when the government is PRO AMERICAN BUSINESS (which it really isn't). Corporations are heavily taxed, unions heavily burden corporations with high-wage labor for low-skill work, health insurance becomes more expensive for corporations who either have to cutback on benefits or go out of the country to survive or simply go out of business.

What you fail to realize is that money has to be MADE, in order for the government to tax it and spend it. PRINTING more is not a solution (thank you very much Germany, 1920). The government's responsibility is to manage the economy so that both employees and corporations have a positive environment in which to excel. It is not the government's job to take more of MY PAYCHECK, so that someone else's healthcare and job security is artificially guaranteed, when that someone either isn't in the country legally, or doesn't pay taxes or doesn't pay insurance premiums. YOU HAVE TO PAY TO PLAY. If you don't, there's the door, America is not a NON-PROFIT organization, and nor should it be. Those seeking socialist programs from Washington DC are barking up the wrong tree, and the more you tax wage earners to subsidize the poor, illegal or inefficient, the less wage earners will be willing to work, and the more poor, illegal and inefficient people you'll introduce into the system.

As a famous Democrat once said:

ASK NOT WHAT YOUR COUNTRY CAN DO FOR YOU

ASK WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR COUNTRY

I'm not a dem or rep, but I do believe in capitalist economies, and if we ever venture away from that, Old Glory will be ripped to shreds.

Sadly I think some of them still do. They tend to be the really sick group that would laugh at starving children and tell them to get a job.
