I was hospitalized last week after bleeding (bright red blood). I was 33 weeks at the time. They ran several tests and sonograms, and told me that the umbilical cord was not attached as most pregnancies and may have contributed to the sudden onset of bleeding. Also, they noted that the umbilical cord was wrapped around my son's neck and resulted in his heart rate dipping periodically. They want to do an ultrasound in two weeks and then determine whether or not I should be c-sectioned at that point. Anyone else with a similar problems that can offer me insight here? I am now on bed rest and forced to stop working..Thanks!

i was in labor 36 hours till my son went into fetal stress then emergency c-section. the cord was not only wrapped around his neck but knotted. had he come down the birth canal he would have hung himself. so i say c-section is the best bet why take any chances. he is now 11 and my second was c-section also due to the previous surgery. it will be fine dont let it worry you that makes things worse, enjoy the bed rest and get ready for your bundle of joy.

I went in to labor at 35 weeks (for high blood pressure) but bub was about 1 month behind in growth they gave me shots for hes lungs and stop the labor for 2 days. Then my waters broke and i was rushed to theater for an E C-section (he was breech and in destress) but was born 45min later screaming he was little but other than that, hes was very healthy. And is now a very healthy 7 month old. Good luck with bub and as long as theres no other problems medically with yourself and baby all should be fine

Wow, what a scary situation. My sister had to have an emergency c-section and she was devastated. She feels like she has missed some type of right of passage. Her doctor says that she should look at the bright side because her vagina didnt get all stretched out. I guess having a baby destroys your vagina. Not much fun. Good luck. I hope everything goes well.

Even at 33 weeks the survival rate is VERY high. I would ask the doctor to give you steroid injections to speed up the baby's lung development and have it done sooner. My son was born at 29 weeks and is now 2 and very healthy with no delays at all.

Is the cord still around his neck ? if so I would be asking to be monitored more now in hospital - dont be scared I dont want to do that to you but you would be far safer am sure. If it is around his neck but they feel its safe for some reason then during normally delivery you run the risk of it getting tighter so I would try not to worry (stupid cos I know we do) and opt for the C section which seems the safest option for your baby.

that's lots much less confusing. I actual have had 4 c-sections. the 1st 2, I did labor for quite a few hours and then had the c-sections. restoration for those took lots longer than the subsequent 2. They have been deliberate c-sections and that i grew to become into up and shifting interior hours of surgical treatment and felt especially regularly occurring with a week. and that i grew to become into purely in choose of soreness killers for 2 days. That sounded extra like the restoration time of a vaginal transport to me. So, sure...that's lots much less confusing.

I have 6 kids and 2 of them were c-sections... stop worring, trust your doctor, he has more experience then all the answers you could possibly get on here. Every situation is different, millions of women have had c-sections. You and your baby will do just fine. Listen the the instructions your doctor gives you and by all means stick to them. Soon you will be holding your baby and all will be right in your world.. Good Luck and Congrats...

there are steroid shots they can give you to develop the babies lungs if you gave birth 3weeks early or sooner. It is a two day process. I'd have them do that and have the c-section. Nothing is scarier then when something is wrong with your baby. It sounds too high risk to me. I had my twins 7 weeks early with the steroid shot and they came out perfectly, just small.

You will more than likely have a c-section. My sister in law with her first child tried to give birth naturally but the baby's heart rate kept dropping so they had to do a c-section. I hope everything goes well with your labor when you are ready, good luck and congratulations.
