These situations can be very difficult. Most abusers start by emotionally abusing the victim to the point where they are so beaten down that they either justify the abuse in some way or are too afraid to leave. Don't try to call the police without talking to the friend's mom. The police may contact him first, or her while he is home and it may make things worse. Help her see that she has options. Go in the phone book and look up a local women's shelter. Talk to a councilor there or ask for some literature. Ultimately, the choice has to be hers to leave, but knowing that you and your friend support her may give her the strength to do so.

THERE IS NOTHING TO PREVENT YOUR FRIEND FROM CALLING THE POLICE, EVEN IF IT IS AFTER THE FACT.
YOU SAY THAT HE ABUSES ONLY HER MOM, HOW LONG WILL THAT LAST. YOUR FRIEND COULD BE NEXT.
MEN LIKE THIS NEED TO BE STOPPED. IT TAKES A GREAT DEAL OF STRENGTH TO STEP UP AND DO SOMETHING. I AM SURE HER MOM IS VERY FRIGHTENED.
THERE ARE MANY ORGANIZATIONS THAT HELP WOMEN IN THIS MESS.
I WISH HER LUCK., AND YOU.

Find a local women's shelter phone number. Have them give you some info for her. Then back off. The Mom is an adult and needs to handle this herself.

Call D.S.S. and report someone being abused in the home. You dont need to give your name when calling. You dont even have to tell your friend that you called. But you have to do something to help them. Her mom is probably too afraid to leave him.

you need to call 911- be careful men like that stop at nothing to keep the ones they are with. Ultimately the mother needs to decide that she is tired and leave- when you get that fed up you will find a way- pray about it.

It really is their business. You can be a friend to your friend, and offer her emotional support. But the mom has to just leave that Jerk. And really fast before someone gets hurt.

Tell her she can come stay with you if this happens again. Tell your parents or whoever you are living with that you gave permission for someone to take santuary in your home.
