Mentally - getting on an aeroplane to Australia with a one way ticket, leaving everything I've known behind, job, house, friends, family, girlfriend. Not even knowing where I was going to stay when I got there, or knowing anyone there at all.
Physically - I think it was when I realised that I was far stronger than my Dad, and it was him asking me for help not the other way round

If you're talking about changes in the environment or culture, I would have to say the proliferance of personal computers, software and the Internet. In 1995 I went to college and received my first PC, an old Gateway 386. Amazing what's happened since, in only 11 years.
One day my kids will be wide-eyed when I tell them I spent my first 18 years without a computer, cell phone, or the Internet!

well having my kids, but also getting qualified as a mature student whilst having kids has changed my life and their life chances.
on a global and historic front:
technology and the right to buy council houses, I would never ever had got a foot in the door with out that opportunity, and the youth culture has changed significantly too.

I'd have to say leaving my friends and family at age 20 to move out of state permanently. I left with nothing ahead of me but an apartment, and have made the most of my life on my own since then.

i met my spouse at 15. i have no idea what my life now would be like... that has changed everything about every decision i've ever made even though we didn't marry for 10 years.
i have no regrets... it didn't feel significant at the time, but looking back i don't know who or where i'd be.
