I wanted to be the awesome girlfriend, so for my boyfriend's birthday I got him the Madden '07 game. He was super stoked on it, and when he opened it up to play, realized that I had gotten him Madden for playstation, not XBox. We tried taking it back, but since the packaging was open, the store refused to exchange it. The game trade places will only offer 25 bucks for the game, but it's a $50 game, and has never even been played before. I feel bad, because this super awesome gift has just been work now, trying to get the right game. Should I just buy the Xbox version and try to get a few bucks back on ebay?

You sound like a sweetheart.
It's up to you.
If you have the money, go get the Xbox version for him.

Definitely go back to the store and see what they can do.
Talk to the manager.
Should be able to get a store credit or something.

But I would make a point of reminding him of the effort you put in to his gift when it's time for your B'day.

Yes, if u write down that story on ebay u should be able to get $50 for it, if not try comparing it to other prices and go lower than the others

My son did the same thing, he took it to the store said it did not work right, they gave him a new one. Still sealed. He then went to another branch of the store and told them he got the wrong one, they exchanged it for the right one.

i would go a store with the receipt and say it doesn't work, and exchange it for a wrapped PlayStation one, then the next day return that one with the receipt for the xbox version

you need to haggle w/ that store some more....you should have considered where you bought it from...most stores will take something back if the packaging is gone, at least the good ones will, that's how you know if you like something, when you take the packaging off. go back to the store, and talk to a higher up if you need to. tell them you won't come back if they don't take it back...do something. they should take it back.

at least you tried. you considered his interests and put effort into making his birthday great.
no getting the other game is not necessary but it would be a nice gesture.
