text messages more than 2 pages long come through incomplete and are impossible to open and read. why would this happen?

Too many characters. Most phones have a limit of how much you can type.

The problem is that you have an older phone. This used to heppen a lot with the old Nokia phones - most new phones should only tell you it has been recieved when all of the text is put together. If you have a new phone, see if there is a software update, as this may help.

Usually when text messages are sent through mobile phones it breaks into two or more parts and be dilivered , wait for a while and open your message then you will reciebe yur message in full.

It used to happen to me when i had nokia 3220 and if i opened them and deleted them they came through again but the next time they were complete it,s does it when network busy and when incompatable phones are use and to many charactors sent just wait till it updates or simply delete them but try to open them first

this happens on my phone if the message is more than one page. if i leave it for a while and go back into the message it usually appears :-)

it could be the server or it could be your phone that isn't compatible with what's being sent, most new phones these days can send both sms of up to 165 charaters or e-mail (unlimited charaters!) , if your network allows it, you can opt to store the messages on their website ;)

it's still updating. If after a while they don't appear fully- it's your handset compatability- you need a better phone
