Just to warn you this is kind of long. Well it happened like this: My best friend "Julie" just started being friends with this other girl "Sam" only because Sam invited her to a birthday party and said there would be food. So I wanted to go eat lunch with her but they already ate it and Sam said how she wanted to go to the library. My friend kind of looked like she wanted to stay but she did not want Sam to be mad at her so she did what Sam wanted and they went to the library. I was mad at her but I didn't tell her. The next day I saw her with Sam and another girl and the other girl said to Julie hey there's Gwen and my so called best friend rolled her eyes and did not even want to say hi to me she like totally ignored me. We have been friends since grade 1. What do you think I should do?

I'm old now and have gone thru this many times in my life. People do these type of things, and they don't always mean to hurt their older friends. Your friend may be hanging with these other girls because she wants to be popular. There isn't much to do besides offer to be there for her ALWAYS, and let her learn and grow (she is obviously confused right now, and doesn't have a strong will) Even if you're hanging alone, you know yourself well, and you know you wouldn't do it to her, and you know you are a much better person that Sam, so let the chips fall where they may. It could take days, months or years, but when your friend grows up, she will choose to be close to you again. In the meantime, hang out with other acquantinces who will be accepting you into their "group"

Easy to say, hard to do.....

She is being quite immature, as girls your age usually are, and doesn't care how her behavior affects you or hurts your feelings.

Don't sit and wait around for her. Go have fun and do other things. Eventually "Sam" will get tired of her and there she will be. At that point, if she apologizes for being so shallow, you may be able to pick up your friendship again - if she realizes how dumb and immature she was and honestly is sorry for her behavior.

This happened to my daughter - rather she was "Julie" and hurt a good friend that way. When she realized what a creep she was to her true friend after "Sam" turned on HER, I told her that apologizing to her true friend - in honesty and sincerity - was the right thing to do and maybe, just maybe, that true friend would welcome her back. The true friend did and my daughter learned a very, very valuable lesson about immaturity, true friends, being honest, being humble and admitting you were wrong.

It was a good lesson for her to learn, and it was painful, and she was rightfully ashamed of her behavior. Hopefully, your friend will grow up before too much damage is done.

Nothing. If she's choosing to be that way, you're better off. Hopefully she'll realize she's acting immature and come around, but if not... it's not the end of the world.
