That would be me. Have a pepsi addiction big time, will drink a twelve pack of can in less than two days. If I do not have it I get headaches, feel down, I need that pepsi fix for the caffiene and sugar., which leads me to the side effects. There is a lot of salt in soda, therefore, swollen feet and ankles, a lot of sugar, therefore high sugar levels. Also, due to the amount of caffiene I have had kidney stones and kidney/bladder infections. And not to mention the weight i have put on after all the years of soda consumption, which in turn leads to high blood pressure and a very unhealthy situation. I am 49 and have been doing this since age 15 and it is now catching up with me. I have tried water , but I gag, my body is craving the pepsi, it is like a drug addiction for me.

Unless they're diet they're loaded with sugar. Not good for you. A friend just lost a lot of weight by doing nothing other than giving up sodas. Also, if you're female you are depriving your body of calcium that you need to prevent you from getting osteoporosis. There was a study released just a couple of months ago saying that osteoporosis which usually shows up in women after menopause is now being found in young women in their 20's. It's because they replaced milk with sodas.

Not a darn thing will happen to a person who drinks more soda than water. I drink soda constantly (it helps to keep me going). I've had no bad side effects that I've noticed. I do, however, drink one to two glasses of water a day. But, that's just to balance everything out with me. It's different for other people. I'm sure there are such side effects as tooth decay, weight gain, and hyperactivity, but I haven't noticed any of those for me personally. It just varies by person I guess.

This person will probably end up with some serious kidney stones. If it's sugared pop: obesity, tooth decay and hyperglycemia are potential problems. If it is diet pop, then who knows. Scientists come out with new information daily including linking high consumption of sugar subsitutes with increased risk of alzheimer's disease, cancer, multiple sclerosis, and a variety of other terrible illnesses. I love diet pop, but in moderation.

kidney problems (leading to death... maybe not now, but later), weight problems, things will corrode because of the acids in soda, and it's definitely not going to be fun. heart problems too. chances are, they will end up in the hospital and then finally die. remember: it may not happen anytime soon, but when you get older these things really affect you.
Also, someone above me said to drink diet, that can do WORSE things long term because of the things they put in it to make it "diet". Seriously.

Dehydrated, too much sugar often causes people to have acne appear on their body, ups and downs in your level of energy because sugars are only temporary forms of energy.

Eventually your kidneys will fail and you will have to go for dialysis. Your body might not be able to make it's own urine and maybe you'll have to wear a colostomy bag. Sounds fun, right?
