Honey, that's perfectly natural. I went through the same thing when I first started using tampons. It's not that the tampon is too big or you're too small, it's that you need to adjust the angle at which you are inserting the tampon. I found that two of the best ways for easy insertion are as follows: For home-lie on your side on the bed, prop your leg up on the bed so that your knee is to the ceiling, slide the tampon in making sure to hold it at the ribbed based, and push down on the applicator. For school-This may sound a little weird, but it worked for me when I was learning. Use both hands while sitting down on the toilet. Hold one side of your labia away from the other. Position the applicator like you would normally. Slide the applicator inside and depress the applicator base. Try to aim the tampon toward your back rather than straight up. That should work for you. Sorry to be graphic or clinical, but hopefully this will help me. I've become an old pro at using them now, so this has been a little weird for me to explain. :) Good luck, hun!

ok. they have tampons that are teen sized, so you might want to try that. Also, i'd relax a little bit. It didn't work for me until i was 14 or 15, because every time i tried i got more and more tense. When you get tense, the mucles down there contract, and the space gets smaller. Also-what finally worked for me (and this might sound a little gross, but my mom told me to do it and it worked like a charm) is to buy some k y jelly (affectionaly known as lube) and put it on the tampon. it makes it slippier, so that it slides in more easily. after a while ( two tries?) you wont' need it.

There is a tampon on the market called playtex slims. They are made specifically for teens and beginners. You might find these a little easier to use. If not the non applicator OB might help.

I believe Playtex makes a slim or slender fit, does not have to be that particular brand. Remember to relax and follow directions, but MOST IMPORTANT if you are a virgin and your hymen is still intact you should not be using tampons, speak with you mother or a close female (older) friend who you respect or even the Nurse @ your school should be able to help1 Good Luck!

Try some Vaseline or baby oil on the applicator. Follow the tampon directions for the right angle - don't be afraid to check things out with a mirror - you own it get to know it. And relax.
It is always difficult in the beginning. They use to make little ones with no applicator - not any easier then what you got.

I would try tampax pearl and buy the multi size box...it has the slim ones....but other than that...when I first started using tampons it took my like an hour to get the hang of it...I'm 13 so I know what you're going through...oh yeah and if still nothing is help (this sounds nasty) but mayb efingering yourself would help it losen up a bit...

I have never liked tampons. You just might be another of those girls. But yeah, don't go straight up. Disgusting as it is, you might have to feel around a bit to get it right. But even then, people say you're not supposed to be able to feel them when they're inside you... and I still can. No matter what I do.

The tampon may be too big. Try a smaller size.

well the first time i used a tampon. i had no clue what i was doing and then i threw up cause i put it in wrong. make sure you read the directions very well cause they do help and get the smallest size you can find because as nasty as this sounds .. if you havnt used one before, your hole is goin to be really small and anything bigger then the smallest you can find will be REALLY uncomfortable
