im killing the battery on purpose, my question is would having a direct charge red and black charge the battery from a homemade crank generator

That is what your car engine does.
It charges your battery.
You could use a lawnmover engine to charge the battery with an alternator if the battery was away from the car in some other application

That is how it works, you put the wires straight to the battery, all the electronic controls are in the generator, remember that the current behave like the water and the battery is like a tank the voltage in the generator has to be higher than in the battery otherwise the current will return to the generator and burn it like the water back up in the pipes when the pressure of the water is too low

if your talking about a car battery recharger, then yes, but I still recommend disconecting the battery from the car.

if your talking about a generator for your house, then you'd be connecting 110 volt AC to 12 volt DC, and you'll just screw your stuff, make some sparks, and probably hurt youself in the process. not a good idea, sorry.

If it is a DC Generator yes it is possible as long as your voltage is above 12 volts. If it is an AC Generator I wouldn't do it. However unless you have a voltage regulator on your generator I wouldn't advise it.

It will provided the generator generates 18 Volt DC. In all other cases it will blow up the batterry

need more info does your gen deliver 12 v direct current or 110 v alternating current or 24 v direct or 220 v alt????

they only charge on high power
