Haven't been in Boston in years, but when I lived there, I used to love Joe Tecce's. Excellent food. Wonderful place.

There are tons of inexpensive places to eat in Boston, especially in the North End. Giacomo's on Hanover Street is a good option, or Sabatinos. Both would keep you in your budget and will be some of the best food you ever tried. If you go to www.digitalcity.com and pick Boston there is an option for best italian, and also best cheap eats, so you coud get some more ideas there. If you want somewhere real casual, just go to Pizzeria Regina's. It'll be the best pizza you ever had, and only $15 total. Then walk to a nice little bakery in the area for a romantic walk, and some good desserts!

Anywhere you go for Italian in the north end is good. Check the menus outside and do some comparisons before the date. You definitely need to save room for dessert at Mike's Pastry (on Hanover). Cannolis...YUMMY!!

Best Advice I can give you is skip Hanover and walk up to Salem st (Parallel to Hanover). Scope the eateries, look for what the specials are and check out the menus. Look, because competition int he North Eand is high, the average food quality is high too. Good Luck.

One can find many small places on North St. I ate at one of them and the food was out of this world - this was in 1991.

Pizzeria Regina is a franchise all over eastern MA and I do recall a location in the North End.

A laid back place thats also a lounge might be kind of cozy. There is a place called 33 Restuarant and Lounge that should be nice for valentines day. Its not too expensive for that sort of thing either. Its off of Stanhope St, hope that helps!

I like Ciao on Hanover for a nice romantic inexpensive dinner.
There is also Mama Maria for a very expensive but fine dining (if you look for extra-romantic ask for the private room that seats only two next to the window)

Il Panino on PARMENTER. NOT the express place on Hanover. (Parmenter is a side st. off Hanover.)

Buon appetito!
